A delicious irony

BBC NEWS | UK | Thousands march over Gaza strikes

It always makes me laugh when I see protests like this. The people supporting organisations like Hamas always seem to miss the point that if they were in the Gaza strip they wouldn’t be allowed to peacefully protest against Hamas (especially if they are women). We take our freedoms in the country for granted and it has been because we have been strong against people who would change the way we live, that has helped us keep those freedoms. Just like Israel against Hamas.

A bit better

BBC SPORT | Football | FA Cup | Tottenham 3-1 Wigan

We played a bit better against a busy Wigan side that are going well in the League. The penalty was the turning point in football cliche terms and it did spur us onto better things. We did our usual trick of not making it easy for ourselves at the end when we gave a sloppy goal away. Good job Roman was on hand to finish the game off for us.

The good old days ?

After what we’ve been through in the last few months, perhaps the banks should look at this film and learn from how it used to be done.

Who are we going to get ?

BBC SPORT | Football | Clubs poised for transfer chance.

It’s up to ‘Arry now and it will be interesting to see who he gets. We’re still very much in trouble and we desperately need new blood. I’m just not sure ‘Arry is after the right players.

Happy New Year

‘Arry wants Lennon’s twin

BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Middlesbrough | Southgate rules out Downing sale

If ‘Arry thinks Stuart Downing is a good player, then we really are in trouble. I had my doubts about ‘Arry when he was appointed but like everyone else I got caught up in the euphoria when he started to get a few results. I even thought (heaven forbid !) that I may be wrong about him. Recent results and his interest in Craig Bellamy and Stuart Downing have meant the doubts have resurfaced.

I watched Downing last night against Utd and whilst he was mainly anonymous, when he did get the ball, he’s so one footed it’s embarrassing in a player earning tens of thousands of pounds a week. He can’t go past people, he can’t cross the ball and he’s lazy defensively. He could be Aaron Lennon’s twin !
