It seems that Microsoft have released a fix to disable the automatic downloading of SP2 which will remain in force until January 2005. From then on if you have automatic updates turned on, SP2 will automatically download. Personally though I don’t use the automatic updates “feature” of XP for updates. I don’t need SP2 because my email has anti-virus and anti-spamming at the server end, I use Firefox as my browser and have a hardware firewall. Why won’t Microsoft give people the option not to have SP2 ?

I Understand that some key software packages have to be modified to run with SP2, and which, won’t work with older Win (SP1) – so looks like you’ll have to upgrade soon anyway – its the MSoft way – you can never escape.
Wayne Rooney going to ManU is all Real Madrid’s fault
- if Real hadn’t brought Woodgate, Newcastle would not have the money to bid for Rooney. If Newcastle, hadn’t bid for Wayne, Man U would not have bid for him.
Well that’s how the market works. If Bill Gates hadn’t incorporated IE into his operating systems, I wouldn’t get stuck with SP2.
