BBC Sport – Football – Wigan 0-3 Tottenham.
We nick a bit of a flattering win against Wigan on a difficult pitch with Pavlyuchenko coming off the bench to score two well taken goals. We had the better of the game and we created more chances than Wigan although they looked threatening in patches and as always with Spurs one goal is never enough. The results went with us a bit so we’re fourth on goal difference and it just makes you wonder about all the other points we’ve thrown away and that fourth spot could’ve been ours for keeps.
Player breakdown
- Gomes – Produced one sharp save, otherwise quiet
- Corluka – One of his better recent games
- Bale – Excellent once again
- King – With only one up front, did what he had to do well
- Dawson – Not under any pressure so no opportunity to make mistakes
- Bentley – A bit quieter of late, steady
- Huddlestone – Plenty of space to play, pity he didn’t
- Palacios – Busy, headless
- Kranjcar – He’s really gone off the boil
- Defoe – Got away with an offside goal, lucky not to get sent off
- Crouch – Industrious, didn’t get a chance on goal
- Subs – Pavlyuchenko, clinched the game with two great goals, Bassong not much to do
