We played quite well but we just seemed a little one paced against a good Fulham side. With Bale well marked, we didn’t seem to be able to break Fulham down and the combination of Crouch and Pavlyuchenko just didn’t work. We got a favourable draw in the semi’s so perhaps that will inspire us to really go for it in the replay.
Player Breakdown
- Gomes – Looked pretty solid again
- Corluka – Did I leave the gas on ?
- Bassong – Eventually shackled Zamora
- Dawson – Solid enough
- Assou-Ekotto – Either supremely confident or nervous though either way too casual by half
- Kranjcar – Had a sharp shot in the first half but otherwise a bit listless
- Modric – Played in the centre of midfield and was neat and tidy
- Palacios – Worked hard
- Bale – Played well but was quite restricted due to being double marked
- Pavlyuchenko – You can see why ‘Arry doesn’t play him after this performance
- Crouch – Busy though a little ineffectual
- Subs – Defoe not enough time to make an impact
