Beckham was a big hit during his loan spell with AC Milan last season

England midfielder David Beckham is to rejoin AC Milan on loan in January after the Italian club reached an agreement with Los Angeles Galaxy.

Beckham, 34, is keen to play for Milan to maximise his chances of making the England squad for the 2010 World Cup.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder had a loan spell at Milan last season, during the Major League Soccer off-season.

“I need to give myself the best chance to make the World Cup squad – playing for Milan will help me,” said Beckham.

“I’m committed to LA Galaxy and MLS in the long term and remain as passionate as ever about growing the game of soccer in America.

“I’m completely focused on ending this season on a high note with my club by winning the MLS Cup,” added Beckham, referring to the MLS play-offs.

During his first Milan loan spell, Beckham scored two goals in 18 matches, helping the Serie A side qualify for the Champions League.

He joined Milan on an initial three-month deal in January 2009 that was extended to the end of the season.

“We are very happy to see again David Beckham with the Rossoneri jersey after the splendid experience of last season,” AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told the club’s official website.

“We are certain that this time in Europe will help the player take part in the next World Cup and to continue after his career in Los Angeles Galaxy, to whom we thank for their time.”

Galaxy head coach and general manager Bruce Arena added: “We are pleased to finalise David’s loan to AC Milan and we look forward to his return to the Galaxy after the 2010 World Cup.”

Beckham’s first Serie A game this season could be against Genoa at the San Siro on 6 January.

Once again Beckham shows that he’s still got it and is still in demand by one of the top clubs in the world. He’s got to go to the World Cup next year.

Quality will always show and Beckham shows again was a great player he continues to be. If only Tottenham had a few players with his quality and attitude.

In a performance that must rank with the 5-1 defeat of Germany and the 4-1 defeat of Holland, England thrashed the gloating Croats firstly by squeezing the life out of them, then by playing football in a style we all hope England would play in all the time. Wayne Rooney was brilliant and Theo Walcott scored an unbelievable hat-trick to put the Croats in their place.

The first half was a bit frustrating as we could’ve used the ball a bit better although in truth Croatia didn’t really get a sniff due to how well organised England were. Second half we murdered them (even before they had a man sent off) and we scored some excellent goals. A bit of footballing joy at last !

Two greats in their respective sports go for glory today. Tiger Woods has positioned himself to take the U.S. Open and Beckham can finish of his career with Real Madrid with a well deserved La Liga title.

Beckham is brilliant and overshadows Gerrard to setup two goals. What on earth was Mclaren thinking when he left him out of the squad ?

If anyone can remember a worse England performance than this can they let me know ? I suppose it’s still Beckham and Lampard’s fault !

When everything seems against you, the only way to answer that is to do your best and once again Beckham shows his strength of character.

So Butcher reckons it was the right decision to leave Beckham out of the squad. He chooses to ignore the fact that whilst we’re getting the results (like we did under Sven), we’re not playing with anymore style or passion than we were before. I write this as I watch England being totally outplayed against Macedonia and Gerrard once again showing that it should’ve been him not Beckham dropped from the squad.

Australia is the best place for Butcher – out of sight, out of mind.

A bit of a one sided report on the game but I thought Beckham played well and still can’t believe he’s not even in the England squad.
